What the bill buys

An agent tailored to your business, not a platform to build one on.

You start from a template for your trade and the agent is yours: it knows your hours, your prices and your service area, and every question it asks, every rule about what counts as an emergency, every hand-off sits on a canvas you can open and change. Nothing is a black box and nothing needs a developer.

It answers on your forwarded number, on your website and in your app as the same agent, in the same voice, from one knowledge base. When a call needs a person it rings you with the summary whispered first, or books the callback and writes up what happened. Every conversation lands in one inbox with the transcript and the audio.

Each AI model has a published per-minute rate and you pick the one on the line. The starting rate is the cheapest; the best ones are a few cents a minute more. That is the whole of the pricing decision.

The same month, three bills

250 minutes of calls, one line, 40 texts.

About 60 four-minute calls. Sureline bills the minutes. Rosie bills a tier of minutes, Goodcall a tier of unique callers, whether the phone rings or not.

Matched at three volumes

What the same calls cost at five receptionists.

Retell bills per component the way Sureline does and belongs in the table for that reason; the difference there is who builds the agent. Smith.ai answers with people: it is what an AI receptionist replaces.

How the bill works

Credit in, published rates out.

Your plan fee pays for account capacity and plan features. Separately, you put credit on the account and the software spends it as your agents work. Each AI model has its own per-minute rate, the same whether the conversation arrives from your website, your app or a telephone call. A telephone call adds carrier time on its own line. Keeping a pathway live, whether that is your forwarded number, your website or your app, is a flat $2 a month, pro-rated by the day.

Named agents count toward your plan limit. Seats for your team, e-mail your agent sends, transcripts, the inbox and the knowledge base are included. There is no after-hours surcharge: 2 a.m. costs the same as 2 p.m.

The first $10 of usage credit is on us. Auto top-up keeps the account from running dry; you pick the amount.

By trade

A worked month for each, at the same rates.

There is one rate card. These are the months the trade pages walk through, calls taken as four minutes each.

FAQ

Fair questions, straight answers.

Is 7¢ the whole price?

No. It is the AI rate, and it is the starting rate, a language model included: each AI model has its own published per-minute price and the cheapest is . A telephone call adds carrier time, about 1.3¢ a minute on a local number, and each line you keep live is $2 a month. All three are on the rates page. On your website and in your app there is no carrier line at all.

What does a typical month cost?

Most single-location businesses land between $10 and $25 a month, all in. Forty after-hours calls of four minutes each, one line and forty confirmation texts come to about $16. A quiet month costs less. There is no minimum, and your first $10 of credit is free.

How do plans and usage work together?

Your plan sets the number of organizations, businesses, agents and Circuits you can run, plus features such as custom domains and client invoicing. Usage is billed separately at the published component rates, so the plan fee does not include a block of minutes.

Do you sell phone service?

No. We sell software. Your phone company stays your phone company and your number never leaves your carrier. A telephone call to your agent does use carrier time, priced on its own line the same way as every other component.

Why is the usage bill lower than a block of minutes?

Sureline meters the minutes a conversation actually used at the rate of the AI model that handled it. Rosie starts at $49 for 250 minutes and Goodcall at $79 for 100 callers whether the phone rings or not. Sureline plan fees pay for account capacity and plan features; the usage bill remains separate.

How does it compare with Retell or Vapi?

Those bill the way Sureline does, per component and per minute, and a typical Retell build lands between 8.8¢ and 13¢ a minute all in, so the gap is real but not the point. Retell is infrastructure: a developer builds the agent, the transfer, the booking and the inbox on its API. Sureline is the finished receptionist: the trade template, the canvas you can open and change, the warm transfer with a whispered summary, the inbox, the knowledge base and the website agent are what the rate buys. The comparison goes line by line.

Do I have to change my phone number?

No. Forward your existing number to Sureline. It never leaves your carrier, and you can switch the forwarding off anytime by dialing a code. Nothing to port, nothing to give up.
